A new programme for leaders has been designed by the Centre for Social Impact. The Leadership through Restoration and Healing programme is tailor-made for leaders interested in bringing restoration into the work of systems change, and finding new ways for people to work, relate, design and learn together.

“The programme draws on the Haumanu framework, an innovative approach to restorative systems change developed by CSI associates,” Head of Centre Karinia Lee says.

Haumanu draws on mātauranga Māori as well as Western knowledge, incorporating insights from Theory U, Thomas Hubl’s work on healing collective trauma, Peter Levin’s work on somatic therapy and the wisdom passed down from our collective tupuna (ancestors).

“Over the last two years, we have explored the Haumanu concepts with people in the sector and have seen its transformative potential,” Karinia says. “We are excited now to be able to offer this programme to enable leaders to go deeper into the ‘how’ of bringing healing and restoration into their art of leadership.”

The 15-month programme, which combines a series of in-person wānanga with online hui, will provide leaders with a process method and practices to address collective trauma and to redesign systems from a place of mauri ora; wellness and wholeness.

The programme team includes CSI Associates Chloe Harwood and Louise Marra.

“We are also delighted to welcome to the team Cecilia Vakameilalo-Kioa, Rebecca Sinclair and Nat Davis, each of whom will bring distinctive experiences and skills to the programme.’
