The National Strategy for NGO and Community Governance
Help is Coming for Half A Million Board Members of Community Organisations
New Zealand would not function without the tireless work of the more than 114,000 non-government organisations (NGOs), charities and community groups that operate across all sectors: caring for older people, fighting fires, surf lifesaving, and organising education, religion, sport and arts events are just some examples.
The National Strategy for NGO and Community Governance – project update
This exciting collaboration between the Centre for Social Impact (CSI) and community organisations is swinging into action. The first of six workshops to design the strategy was held in Wellington on 11 and 12 March.
The Importance of Community Governance
Many of us give back to our communities by taking governance roles in community organisations.
Improving the quality of community governance is a priority for the Centre for Social Impact. As we do this work, we hear about why people commit to community governance – and why they think it is important. As part of that conversation, we asked some of our stakeholders to take up their smartphones, and give us a brief insight into their governance interests.
Sprinting for Good: co-designing for impact toolkit launched
The Sprinting for Good report was launched on Friday 25 September via a Zoom event. Presented by Programme Manager for the National Strategy for Community Governance, Dr Jo Cribb, the launch outlined the co-design process used to develop the National Action Plan for Community Governance.
Meet the leader of our first governance sprint, Sue McCabe
Sue McCabe is leading the first sprint which will look at engaging the broader governance community in valuing community governance. She brings to the role her experience as chief executive of Philanthropy New Zealand, and as a co-founder and trustee of not-for-profit the Community Comms Collective, and of social enterprise The Good Registry. We asked Sue why she supports the development of a national strategy for NGO and community governance.
