The Kia Whiti Tonu free online workshops provide information and insights to support capability and capacity building in community organisations.
The Kia Whiti Tonu (to shine brightly) programme is funded by Foundation North. It was developed initially in response to needs identified in 2020 in a COVID-19 impact survey carried out in collaboration between the Centre for Social Impact, Hui E! Community Aotearoa, Philanthropy New Zealand, and Volunteering New Zealand.

The Ora of Self

Content: This session focused on self-awareness and self-care. Leaning into a Reflective Practise, it provided an opportunity for participants to speak to and share their pūmanawa (natural gifted talents, magic, superpowers), pūkenga (skills, expertise) and learnings, and reflect on how we ‘live,’ nourish, practise, and apply these to our roles, mahi, whanau and the communities in which we serve.

The Whare of HauOra
March 2021

Content: Professor Mason Durie developed Te Whare Tapa Wha, a holistic health and wellness model in 1982 to enable a wider audience a clearer and more informed understanding of a Māori point of view with regard to hauora and ora (health and wellbeing).
This workshop shows how to create a practical resource, a Whare of Hauora, Home of Wellbeing, with intention around the pou (pillars): Taha Tinana (physical health), Taha Wairua (the spiritual dimension), Taha Whānau (the family), Taha Hinengaro (the mind), and Whenua (land & environment).
