Whangarei Youth Space
The WYS was established in 2014 in response to what young people (aged 12-24 years) wanted and needed – a safe place in central Whangarei that brings together a programme of social and recreational activities, youth development and youth health and support services.
The WYS provide several youth initiatives and work collaboratively with organisations, agencies and employers to assist young people into education, training and employment.
Key to the success of WYS is an innovative youth adult partnership, with youth participating in design, delivery and governance within the organisation, and helping to keep WYS relevant and delivering what is needed for youth in Whangarei. CSI have worked closely with WYS to strengthen governance and operations during a time of recent organisational transition. Advice to the WYS Chair and Board about role description and parameters, recruitment strategies and stakeholder management have ensured smooth transition and enhanced readiness for the organisation to deliver impact. Whangarei Youth Space is a Foundation North Catalyst for Change community partner.
